Triathlon day = Day a kilt would have been really nice to have

Had to run the 2mile leg of a triathlon today, then go back to work.

Definitely feeling the heat today. Tried out a pair of thin camping pants to see if it would help with the breath ability, but just not cool enough.

I did some more drawing practice last night so i should have a better (still not great ;) ) comic for this week.

Going to keep refining the first one till i get it right/understandable.

25 days left till fathers day!
Hopefully the guys over at utilikilts will have my size in stock so when we order it this week i'll get it soon.

I see a kilt in my future!

So after talking with my mom and wife this weekend about potential fathers day presents I think there is a utilikilt in my future! Don't worry I'll post pics of me in a kilt as soon as it arrives. Though the little lady wants to take me shoe shopping first to make sure i have something that matches.

I also want to thank everyone for the comments and constructive criticisms about the comic. I'm hoping to get a new comic strip out a week. If you have an idea for a Kiltman vs. Pantman comic strip be sure to tell me about it Here.

Kiltman vs. Pantman - Episode Pre-Release 001 : Thoughts on a hot sunny day.

So i was sitting on the train today and thought:"Someone should make a comic strip about the trials and tribulations of the Kilt wearer." So i sat down at the computer and took a 30 minute drawing tutorial. So bear with me over the next few weeks and months as the cartoon starts to develop and my artistic ability improves(fingers crossed). I'm going to have to talk to my friend Dan Larson, creator of "Stick-Man", for some comic book drawing tips. I've only been at it for ~2hrs now. He could definitely teach me a thing or two.

I'm titling the comic "Kiltman vs. Pantman" or KvP for short.

So without any further mumblings from me.
The first PreRelease comic strip from KvP:

Kiltman vs. Pantman - Episode Pre-Release 001 : Thoughts on a hot sunny day.
Kiltman vs. Pantman - Episode Pre-Release 001 : Thoughts on a hot sunny day.

spoiler:

if you can't understand my poor drawing don't worry i'll come back and update the older comics as my skills improve. The left bubble is of a windchime and the right bubble is eggs and bacon frying.

Since it's hot out we're going to make you suffer longer.

Since it's hot out we're going to make you suffer longer. At least that is what the MBTA told us today.

Standing still, trying not to move, trying to stay cool.
The train saunters down the tracks.
Track warning in affect and all trains must remain at or below 40mph.
This is going to be a long hot train ride home.
How I envy the kilt wearers today!
My day will come soon enough!

The Fate of a kilt wearing wannabe

The uncomfortable fate of the kilt wearing wannabe continues.

90 degree day today.
Starts off cool and calm.
Office AC is running and shades are drawn.

Then a silence over takes the office.....
Not from lack of gossip or tech talk, but from the absence of AC.
No fans circulating the sparse amount of cool air we do get.
After 10 mins the temperature on the floor begins to rise, perspiration sets in.

45ish minutes later it kicked back on.
It was to late though.
The rest of the day the AC was always a few steps behind the blistering sun.

yes i'm complaining about being hot, but more about not being in a kilt through it all!

Picking a Kilt and Saving for a Kilt

So most people would think the hard part is over once i got permission to wear a kilt to work. Unfortunately if you have ever gone kilt price shopping, you'll know that kilts are not cheap.

So as i save my pennies to get my first kilt i ask that you look into your kilt wearing hearts (or for those that want to live vicariously through this kilt wearing wannabe) throw a few bucks my way to help get this Adventure started.

All Donations will go towards An Original Utilikilt

After looking around at different kilts this seems like the top dog of utility kilts. It also looks like one that I could pull off wearing to work and stay cool at the same time. I'm going to have to get a MoHawk haircut for my first outing in my kilt, just to say "yeah, that's right, i'm in kilt".

The Kilt Adventure Begins : staying cool the cool way

Sitting in the office at work on a warm day is tolerable in the morning. The AC unit does its best to cool the large office space. As the afternoon sun comes streaming through the large windows the AC just can't compete. It gets warm really quickly. Adding fans to the mix just stirs up the hot air, and causes a lot of "What'd you say"'s to try and carry on a conversation over the extra noise.

On top of the office temperature the fact that the train i ride is frequently packed and just as frequently overly warm doesn't help the team.

All of this adds up to a very warm/hot day. For someone that thinks 60 degrees is too warm, its uncomfortable. So where do we go from here?

The company policy where i work is no shorts. From my point of view its an understandable policy for a business environment and i'm not one to make a fuss about things like that. Though when spring comes and all the ladies get to dress up/down in their skirts and dresses, the guys have to sweat it out literally. This year i asked to be allowed to wear a formal kilt to work. We (the group of people researching unbifurcated clothing ;) ) have all heard a lot of negative stories about companies banning kilts, or people getting fired for wearing them etc,etc... Not my employer, they said go for it :)

So the Adventure begins .......
